Jump-starting Hong Kong’s Low-carbon Economy”.The results reveals that companies are willing to pay more for clean electricity despite of higher energy costs.

“Hong Kong businesses are astute. Of course we are attentive to basic costs. But smart business entails long-term thinking. Paying more for clean energy now will yield dividends in health and productivity in the future. A low-carbon economy powered by clean energy: that’s an investment we’re willing to make,” said Thomas Ho, Chief Executive of Gammon Construction and CCBF ExCo Chair.

Approximately 300 companies, reflecting the industry makeup of Hong Kong businesses, were interviewed via telephone between 20 September and 16 October 2012 for the survey. The results of it and of previous surveys can be found on the CCBF website.

BEC Industry Visit to North East New Territories (NENT) Landfill

On 20 February 2013, BEC hosted an Industry Visit to North East New Territories (NENT) Landfill, the largest landfill gas utilisation project in Hong Kong. Mr Y O Yeung, Process Plant Manager of the Landfill, introduced the operation process and future development plan of the landfill. The group took a closer look of the leachate treatment system and landfill gas collection system. They also visited the waste water treatment plant to learn more about its operations.
